We've been pretty crafty lately.
I have worked on a quilt for my sweetie for the last month. He is only issued a sleeping bag and sleeps on a 2 inch foam mattress. That does not sound homey or comfy or snugly at all. So I made him a quilt so he can wrap up and snuggle and feel warm and cozy and loved. Feel like home. I made it in army colors so it still feels like issue and doesn't stand out too much. I used cotton on the front but flannel on the back. I tied it because I was very short on time. I sent it last Saturday morning. He had it by Wednesday morning. Now that's service!!

The pattern is an original design by on of my favorite quilt shops in Tunkannock called Endless Mountain Quiltworks. The pattern is called Pennsylvania Polka.

Ainsley has also been crafty. She brought home a large piece of card stock with a turkey drawn in pencil. Her assignment was to decorate it any way using any thing she likes. We chose what? Fabric - of course. I love scraps. She picked each fabric she wanted to use. We had traced the turkey on parchment paper and cut out each piece. She then taped the pattern on to the scrap of fabric and my mom or I cut it out for her. She then took a paint brush and some watered down Elmers glue and brushed each piece with glue. We helped her find the right spot to glue it down. Fun project! Cute Turkey!

Chase also has been crafty. He made a little book type thing in art class. Each class was given a quote. The kids then had to decide how to depict the quote. The out side was a thick heavy cover. 
It was then folded into three sections. The back cover was thick and heavy again.
The quote that Chase's class used was,
"May the sun in his course visit no land more free more happy more lovely than this our own country."
Chase chose to use the letters - U S A. Each letter had a picture within it. He also added a peace sign. I think he did an awesome job. I love his soldier. It reminds me of someone very special. The following shows a close up of each of his letters.

Boy all y'all are so crafty I can hardly believe it. All of the projects are really nice, I am very impressed. Chase your project is especially great! The soldier reminds me of someone who you know and loves you very much. Keep on being crafty. It brings a lot of joy and happiness to my life. I love that quilt--perfect colors for the military Man, but a great reminder of the comforts of home--right down to the pattern name!
The turkey and the book are impressive artwork as well.

That looks like a great quilt! I am amazed at how you just sit down and a short while later - wah-lah, a quilt. The kids did a great job on their projects too - it must run in the family!
